Innovative aspects of the project
The AUX-NAVALIA project is innovative since it covers innovation in the naval ancillary sector, and, as identified throughout the project, it is an essential challenge to improve competitiveness of the naval sector within the European Atlantic Area.
A detailed analysis of the innovative aspects of the project highlights the following:
- Product related innovations: an innovative transnational grouping of the naval ancillary industry will be created together with other innovative products for the sector such as design of specific financing instruments, a transnational technological surveillance service for the naval ancillary industry, the creation of a network of technical experts for promotion and dissemination of R&D&I and the creation of a network of mentor businessmen to improve competitiveness of the ancillary industry.
- Process related innovations: with respect to processes, the following aspects have to be highlighted: the integrated approach of the project, the conception of innovation as a comprehensive element, innovative management in project execution dynamics and joint management for boosting innovation in the subsector (naval ancillary industry) beyond the location of companies within their respective sectors.
- Context innovation: on the subject of context, AUX-NAVALIA will try to promote innovative projects in the different regions of the Atlantic Area wherever the naval sector is representative for the economy and wherever no innovative initiatives have been developed along these lines.
- Innovation on the subject of cooperation: the innovative approach becomes also apparent in the project through cooperation between the partners. Collaboration within AUX-NAVALIA means creation of joint tools and services which will continue beyond the lifetime of the project. Furthermore, the creation of the innovative transnational grouping of the naval ancillary industries is an innovative aspect in transnational cooperation projects since it guarantees collaboration established between the partners right from the start. We are therefore witnessing a project with a clear innovative approach, largely because it belongs to priority 1: promote transnational business and innovation networks, which will be completed according to the contents of this section.
